Nechceme se pouštět do překladu oficiální zprávy. Přejeme upřímnou soustrast všem pozůstalým, Richardovým přátelům, kolegům a obdivovatelům.

"Provázej nás tímto smutným údolím světlo, kterým osvítil tolik lidí během svého života Richard."

Oficiální tisková zpráva:

"It is with great grief and sadness that we would like to inform you
that Richard Polson suddenly and unexpectedly passed away last Thursday
night due to natural causes.
It was a peaceful death and for this we are truly grateful. Richard
touched so many people throughout his life, and the light that shone
from within him will continue to lead us all.
We ask that you could please take a moment to remember this special
human being, and to respect the pain that his family, girlfriend and
friends are feeling at this extremely sad time.
Richard taught many people valuable lessons in life, respect, kindness,
generosity and joy. He will never be forgotten by those who loved him,
and we know his life will not have been in vein, as his spirit will live
on amongst us all forever!

Richard was very much one of electronic musics' unsung heroes. A pioneer
who preferred to let the music do the talking, he has helped shaped the
face of British electronic music over the past twelve years. His music
and spirit has inspired many others to continue his legacy for what he
believed to be true and just: music uncluttered by ego and hype.

May his journey through the stars be peaceful
."

Richard Polson was a good man.  He was unselfish in his work, always willing to offer sound advice and help others.

I actually first communicated with Richard on the old Overload Forum.  It was shortly after Cosmic Trip in 2003, and Richard had contacted me to ask for help translating a report on Techno.cz, written by his soon to be friend, Pav.  I happily obliged and we soon got chatting about many things.

During this time, the AON team was planning their first major event.  We spent a while trying to think who would be best to headline, and all the time I was chatting to them.  Rich and Nick readily agreed to play what was later to become probably the best techno live set many had ever heard.  It was certainly the best I’d ever heard.  I had gone to talk to the manager of the club behind the second stage.  When I came out I was shocked to find the second stage empty, only to find the main stage rocking to the Mavericks.  It was an amazing feeling.

Rich was the type of guy, who didn’t put up with any bullshit.  He just wanted to get on with the music, just the way it should be.  He knew where to spot talent, and had helped the likes of Czech producer Cyp, and Slovak producer Hu rise to fame; also was very supportive of Oliver Ho, “From day one they both helped and supported me with my music, I became a regular artist on Blueprint and later on, recorded many 12"s for Rich's own offshoot label, Surface. They [James Ruskin and Richard] both had shown real faith in my music when many other record labels seemed to be uninterested. Ever since then Rich was always a good friend and beacon of creative honesty, he never had any time for bullshit or anything that came in the way of 'proper' and 'true' music and art. He was a one-off, a true original, never taking the easy route or doing anything other than what he truly believed in.” ~ Oliver Ho.

At one of our Perception parties, Rich was good enough to stop by with James Ruskin to say hello.  It was proof he valued his mates, no matter how busy his schedule.

I last saw Rich in person at the Cross club for Aircross.  He and Nick played the finest music to be heard at Aircross, it had everyone pumping.  He looked vibrant and healthy.

Last Thursday was a dark day for music.  However, in my mind, Richard has not died…he has achieved immortality through his music.

Richard, good bye my friend.  You will always be remembered.
